My Love Letters From God
Supernatural Guidance
The Lord had become my Father in a very real and tangible sense…we walked and talked everyday, and as you might imagine I asked Him a million questions about everything under the sun, and He’d answer me. Sometimes with a voice of Spirit, sometimes with an impression.. a sort of “knowing” that I can’t quite explain, and sometimes He’d give me a deep peace about something, as if to say that that was something I shouldn’t worry about, then sometimes days later He’d lead me to a person, or somehow I’d come to very detailed explanation through a book or television program. His presence stayed with me, and I was in love.
Becoming so very familiar with the Lord at such a young age, I felt comfortable enough to be myself, which up until that point had been a foreign concept to me. I could relax with God, and it felt safe to be transparent in all my imperfections. One day as I was walking out in the woods with the Lord, a good distance from home, chatting away about everything and nothing at all, I heard Him say very clearly “Keep walking.” For a moment I became a bit sarcastic as I responded with “Of course I’m going to keep walking, why wouldn’t I keep walking?” and just as those words left my mouth I saw that right in that moment, under the foot that I had just stepped forward, stretched out in the Texas sun, was a huge rattle snake. Immediately my instinct was to stop and pull back my foot, but having the voice of the Lord echoing in my mind to “KEEP WALKING” I obeyed. I held my breath, continued my stride and stepped over the snake. After a few steps, with the sound of his rattle going off, and my adrenaline through the roof, I twisted my head back to take a look, and saw that the snake had quickly coiled up and prepared to strike just as I stepped over him, but in an instant I was too far for him to get me. I continued walking feeling shocked and dismayed as I thought over the reality that had I obeyed my instincts instead of the Lord, I’d have been bitten, and way out here, no one for miles, I’d have surely died. Back then we didn’t have cell phones, and many people didn’t even have land lines in their homes. That was something for the middle and upper class, and businesses. Even if I’d made it home, or to a neighbors house, the chances of me making it to a hospital in time were nonexistent. Now this was only one incident where my Father in Heaven did for me, what no earthy father ever could’ve. Over the coming years bad things continued to happen. Unspeakable things that should never happen to a little girl. Although God didn’t stop the bad things from occurring, He would warn me. On the times that I listened and obeyed, I was spared what might have been, and on the times that I didn’t listen, I would soon understand why God had said no, but He’d still never leave me, and would miraculously spare my life even amidst some very harsh lessons. People that I thought I should trust, I found that I shouldn’t… People I thought with every preconceived notion inside me that I shouldn’t trust, when God said I should, and I did…I’d find that everything I thought to be true about them was wrong. God challenged everything I thought I knew about the world, and the people in it. And He’s continued to challenge what I believed to be possible, even unto writing this book. Some might feel that I was at a disadvantage having had no family, but I have been more blessed than you can imagine having been raised up by God Himself.
